In honor of National Library Week, the Crandon Public Library will host award winning author Kathryn Springer on Thursday, April 16th at 6:00pm. The event will take place at the Town of Lincoln Community Building and will include a chicken dinner and dessert. Tickets for the sale are $10.00 each and will go on sale the first week of April at the Library.
Kathryn Springer is a local success story, having grown up in Crandon as the daughter of newspaper publishers, Russell and Arlet Steel. Since 2004 she has published over twenty novels and was the recipient of the American Christian Fiction Writers Carol Award for Best Christian Fiction in 2009. Springer will be presenting on her latest book, “The Dandelion Field” which made its debut in January and quickly won the hearts of millions of Christian fiction readers. Springer’s presentation is certain to be a night of unlimited possibilities so please join the Crandon Public Library in celebrating a great author and a community’s love for its library.

The Friends of the Crandon Public Library will host a Spring Break Booksale event Tuesday, March 30th through Saturday, April 4th. The Friends will have their booksale set-up in the library’s lower level each day during the library’s regular business hours. The Friends have hundreds of used books for sale in every topic area imaginable. All proceeds from the booksale are returned to the public library through various efforts including the Friends Annual Scholarship, partnership opportunities with the School District of Crandon and library material purchases.
A group of volunteer moms have started a weekly play group at the Library on Tuesday afternoons from 2:00-3:30 p.m. The play group allows youngsters to meet, greet and play in a friendly, unstructured environment. Play group is a free Drop-in Program and registration is not required. Note: there will be no Play Group on Tuesday, March 31st due to Friends of the Library Booksale.
Crandon’s Stitch’n Sisters Needlework Group will be offering a beginners’ class in the lower level of the Library on Tuesday, March 24th from 9 am-Noon. Participants can learn how to: knit, quilt, embroider, basket weave, and English paper piece. There will also be a sample table of crafts available for viewing. No registration is required for this free event.
