Learn with us @ the Sip and Swipe Café
October 12 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 pm
An event every week that begins at 9:30am on Tuesday and Thursday, repeating until October 26, 2017
In September, Forest County residents will have the opportunity to learn about iPads, as well as Internet and email technology through a new collaboration between the Crandon Public Library and the Forest County Office on Aging.
The program, titled the Sip & Swipe Café® , is designed to help seniors learn about technology through the easy swiping of an iPad or Android tablet screen, while perhaps enjoying a “sip” of coffee or tea.
The first part of the Sip and Swipe tutorial is dedicated to practicing tapping and swiping to navigate the iPad screens.
Once this skill is mastered, the user is instructed in how to make a computer keyboard or number pad appear on the screen and how to use the begin using the tablet for internet searches. Browsing through results and tapping to enter web pages is part of the tutorial.
Another option for users of the Sip & Swipe Café® is learning how to create a Gmail account. A tutorial guides users step by step, and gives options for learning first or creating the account as it is explained.
Crandon’s first cafe will be held at Tricia’s Treasures in downtown Crandon on Tuesdays and Thursday mornings from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. beginning Tuesday, September 19th. Free in-house coffee will be provided to the participants and graduates of the program will receive a $5.00 gift card to Tricia’s. Each program will be limited to 3 participants to allow for small class sizes and personal training. Registration is required. Please register by calling the Library at 715-478-3784.
