The Crandon Pubic Library is sponsoring a Holiday Book Drive and is encouraging individuals and businesses to donate a classic
children’s picture book to our library’s collection of children’s books. Crandon Public Library’s Holiday Book Drive program is a wonderful way to honor or remember someone special in your life. With your Holiday Book Drive donation of $10, the library will buy a book to be placed in the Crandon Public Library’s Children Room, with a book plate indicating both donor and honoree. With each contribution, a gift plate will be placed in a book in honor or memory of the person you designate. We will also send a card to the person being honored or remembered. An acknowledgement card can also be sent to the family of the deceased. Every time the book is used, your donation and the person it honors will be remembered – a wonderful way of insuring a lasting commemoration of a special person or occasion. Contributors to our 2009 Holiday Book Drive will also have a holiday ornament added to our giving tree at the library. The ornaments, made by the Crandon Public Library’s story hour participants, will be available to the contributor at the end of the 2009 holiday season. The Holiday Book drive books are currently on display at the library and are awaiting adoption. Some of the titles being adopted are reprints of old classic titles like Curious George and Madeline while some of the titles are new classics such as If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. All of the titles being added can be found on the website www.growupreading.com and are featured in the article titled “100 Books to Read in Kindergarten.”
